TRAINING OUR CHILDREN

Nearly 2,000 years ago, Clement of Rome wrote, “Let our children have a Christian training,  Let them learn the value God sets on humility, what power pure love has with Him, how good and excellent it is to fear Him, and how this means salvation to everybody who lives in His fear with holiness and a pure conscience. For He is the searcher of thoughts and of desires.”

Not much has changed – the same is needed in our day, and perhaps, more than ever before. Solomon declared, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Pro. 22:6). God has committed to us as parents the training of their children, and in a very important and vital sense, committed to us the formation of our children’s future character, and He will hold us responsible for the influence we exert.

Paul said that parents are to “bring them up [their children] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4; ESV). It has been said that between a child and God stands a parent – a connecting link or a dividing wall. Which are we? May we all give serious attention to the SPIRITUAL training of our children.

Think About It!

Have A Great Day!
