THE DECEITFULNESS OF SIN

There was a boy fishing and a sheriff drove by and noticed the boy had a long line of fish. So he pulled over and talked to the boy.

“Hey there boy, where d’ja catch all those fish?”

The boy responded “The lake.”

“Wow I’ve never seen anyone pull in so many fish from the lake.” He continued, “What did you use?”

“Stinging worms”

“What? I’ve never heard of those before. Do you have any left?”

“Yup!” and with that the boy pulled out a coffee can from his backpack and showed the sheriff. It was full of baby rattlesnakes. The cop then noticed how bloody and bitten the boy’s hands were. Every time the kid reached in to hook a snake, they all viciously attacked his hand. The sheriff pulled him into the car and with sirens blazing went to the hospital.

The boy never noticed the pain the snakes were causing him because he was blinded by the amount of fun he was having pulling in all those fish. Sin is like this, we can’t see it as the real evil it is and how it destroys us spiritually and physically. Lets look through the fun of sin because it is deceitful and Christ died for our sin, it’s not fun! If we could just see the way sin affects us spiritually as we see the way rattlesnakes harm our body we would have a much easier time fighting off the desires of the flesh.

Remember, “For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).

Think About It!

Have A Great Day!
